The purpose of this working group is to establish initial PMF “targets” and the accompanying OSS-native framework for aligning on, measuring, reporting on, and upgrading them over time. By targets we mean things like service classes and the accompanying expected level of service that needs to be met across various dimensions.
The defined service classes by this working group are intended to be connected with concrete measuring systems to ensure they are being met. We hold the tenet that measurements must be on chain (see why). We assume in future that these onchain “scores” will affect the reward structures of SPs.
This working group is focused first on facilitating the market between onramps/aggregators and SPs so onramps/aggregators can find SPs to use and SPs can understand how they are being evaluated.

Storage clients have a diverse set of needs and as a result, storage providers like AWS, GCP, etc. have created a plethora of storage options to meet these needs. Today Filecoin doesn’t articulate clearly what storage classes are supported, how we define them, and how we’re measuring against them. Filecoin makes strong guarantees of replication with its daily replication proofs, but there are additional dimensions that storage clients want to have visibility into (e.g, retrievability, performance). This was a topic of conversation during FIL Dev Summit #4, and this working is an attempt to change this so storage clients can know what to expect and so the Filecoin ecosystem can clearly see opportunities to fill or improve.

It is self-service to be part of this working group. You can subscribe to events at https://lu.ma/fil-pmf-targets-wg. (See Why is meeting scheduling done with Luma?)
You can have all events show up in your calendar application with the “Add iCal Subscription” functionality:
Events on the iCal Subscription won’t show-up or clutter your personal calendar, meaning you won’t be marked as busy during these times.
